better than tv

Between baby feedings and HF's active dreaming, I probably averaged 3 hours of sleep last night. HF took the night off to catch up on some much needed sleep. About 3:30 am I was startled by HF suddenly grabbing me and yelling, "GET HIM! GET HIM! GET HIM!" Then his body went limp and he was snoring again. I finished feeding the baby and put him in his crib. I get back in bed and HF hugs me close to him. I thought he woke up briefly because he was saying he loved me, etc. etc., But no. It was a dream. He then says happily, "I got promoted" and he's hugging me really tight. Then the same thing. He goes limp and is in deep sleep, snoring away. Some time later, he grabbed my hand and was shaking it. WEIRD. I asked him this morning if he remembered dreaming about anything in particular. He said he remembers shaking someone's hand, but that's it. He has no idea.

That man needs a day off! :D

One day, a very long time ago when I was young and naive, I attempted to wake up the Husband (then Boyfriend) very sweetly and gently. In an instant I was grabbed, thrown over the other side of the bed, pinned down with an arm over my neck and a knee in my ribs. Now? If he needs to be woken up I call him from the door. If that doesn't work I start chucking pillows at him. No way am I shaking him awake again. Ever. We laugh about it now. He's all...sheesh, you throw someone across the room one time...

Yeah, totally weird. Although I can relate. My husband used to do alot of this when he still lived with his dad and they would bump into each other in the kitchen in the middle of the night sleep eating, THE BOTH OF THEM!

I found the best thing that works for my husband is just saying firmly, "Honey, you are dreaming, go back to sleep!!!" It works pretty well but waking is never a good idea. The other night I used to troubled toddler technique on him when he was flipping out in his sleep. I distracted him after I said my usual by asking him if he wanted a drink of my water. He did and then calmly went back to sleep like nothing ever happened. Yep, the weird just keeps getting weirder. Sweet dreams tonight :) Have you ever asked him to lay off the caffeine much earlier than when he turns in? That can make a huge difference for my husband, at least when he actually does it.

You get a gold star for patience. I get kicked out of the main bedroom for even "breathing too loud" during sleep.

I just experienced various versions of snorts, grunts, and snuffling last night! I've only been a police wife for a little over a year now, so it looks like there's lots still in store for me...

Telling him calmly that he's dreaming and to go back to sleep works very effectively as well.
