A Police Officer's Wife has a cooking blog called, Cooking For a Cop.
This has been a very busy week. HF has been commuting all week to receive training. He is going to post intsructor school. Or whatever you call it. When he gets home at night he has a ton of homework! On top of that, he's also had to work a couple of special events. Then I'm an idiot and all needy this week for some reason, so I've been staying up super late with him-just to be with him. Then I don't even hear him leave in the morning and am up with the kids in the morning after sleeping maybe 4 hours. TIRED. Why do I keep doing this? The best thing he told me from his training this week has been what a SWAT guy has said. When they were introducing themselves, one burly guy got up and said that he tunes anyone out that is doing training about tactical stuff unless they are SWAT. He makes friends wherever he goes, and came home today with business cards from other cops from other agencies. Connections are nice aren't they?
What else. My van has been in the shop all week and I've been walking everywhere. I like it! On the way to walking my daughter to school, we see the little game the city has been playing with the local gang members. They tag an underpass, the city cleans it up the same day. The next day there is fresh graffitti over the paint job, and even more painting on top of that. I found out today that we have a graffitti hotline that we can call to report graffitti. I also found out today that in our state and I'm assuming in many other states that you can ride the city buses for free if you are law enforcement or the family of LEOs. I think I might take advantage of that. Not for my enjoyment, as our bus system is somewhat lousy, but I think the kids would be way excited about it.
HF and I went
It is only 8:30 pm here but everyone is in bed and that's where I'm headed. Such a good week to have behind us. HF has now completed his certified instructor course or whatever it is called.

I am the same way! I stay up and wait for my husband every time he works late...I just want to fill him in on my day!
I wasn't supposed to see DH today until 11pm tonight, due to work and class. He ended his shift early, and rushed home so he could see me before he had to go to class. Nice surprise!
It's like what that guy says to Howie Long in that one car commercial, "You have cop hair."
That's what it is...the hair! Ha ha! You can always pick a hairdresser out of a crowd too. :)
I've gone through enough shift changes now to realize that my sleeping pattern changes along with his. Of course, I sleep the best when he's on daylight. I end up texting him if I wake up in the middle of the night when he's on midnights. And when he's on afternoons, I stay up past my bedtime to talk to him or see him for an hour after his shift.
I hope you get your vehicle back soon--walking in the snow that fell last night is not fun.
Have a good weekend.
At least the week is over...and nice use of laser beam eyes!! I love to see all the other officers walking in and out of the uniform store too, and usually the wives look so bored! :)
Thanks for the shout out!
When Officer Hottie was graduating from academy I kept wondering how I would find him in all those faces. I remember thinking "Look for the shaved head." I'm sure you know how that turned out. :o)So Damsel must be right ... it's in the hair!
Thanks also for the comments about childbirth - I love my midwife and have referred many friends to her. I honestly wish I would have gone that route from the beginning ... you guys are incredible!
yup its the hair, maybe thats why i love Howie Long!
Congrats to HF on his certification.
haha!! the laser beam eyes...I need some of that action...I'm not too capable of that!! :)
And I tell ya, even if it were free to ride our bus system...I wouldn't...unless I was looking to lose a limb...it's pretty dangerous!
That's so funny about how you can tell who's a cop. We had one of those errand running dates last night as well, and lo and behold, there at wal-mart we see fellow local officers doing the same things with their wives.
As unexciting as errand dates may sounds, we all just liked being able to be with each other, so I'm glad you can relate. Happy Weekend!
Hello there! I've been blog hopping and so happy to come across yours. I'm also a Fuzz wife, its always great to find other Blue families. My hubby is 8 years on, and both my Dad and Uncle are retired. I'm following you now, and looking forward to getting to know ya!
Thanks for the introduction! I'm dying to find more cop wives, so this is great. Thank you thank you!!
I try to stay up for my husband too, I just don't sleep well when he's out working.
Thanks for the link! :)
That's so funny! People always tell me the opposite, "You don't look like a cop." Which I'm perfectly fine with! I guess it's because I'm a girl ;-)
I think it's a little something in addition to the hair. There's the "look" in their eyes, too. Even off duty!
I used to try to stay up for J til he got home, too. The need to see him before I fell asleep used to overpower the need for sleep. I say 'used to' because I just don't have the energy lately to stay up til 1 a.m. anymore!
you're so good at connecting everyone! Gotta love waiting in the car wondering how much $$$ is going to be spent on a must-have "tool"... like a kid in a candy store :-) I actually don't mind, but I wouldn't tell him that it's way more fun to give him crap for "needing" a $250 flashlight and "one more gun" :-)
