This Too Shall Pass...

Mrs. Fuzz is a little under the weather right now.  On Friday, she had some extreme pain that caused us to rush her to the hospital.  Turns out she has a kidney stone.  She's been in bed all weekend, texting me her needs and popping lortab "every four to six hours as needed for pain." The doctor is hoping that she passes the rock by today or tomorrow, otherwise, we are being told that she may have to go back in.

Mrs. Fuzz is in a lot of pain and it's hard to watch.  She told me that it feels very similar to giving birth.  At least with labor you usually have something to show for it in the end.  With this we might get a tiny pebble out of it to have as a cherished keepsake of this wonderful time in our lives.  She's drinking lots of water and reading to pass the time.

The children are being remarkably well behaved during all of this.  They have been a real source of help.  There's been very little fighting or craziness.  Everyone is pitching in and the kids seem to have figured out on their own that the best way they can help is to not fight and to clean up after themselves.  I'm pretty impressed.

I will keep you updated on her progress and I will be guest posting this week until she's better.  This coming week I'll be posting two new product reviews along with some stories from the job.  I hope I can match Mrs. Fuzz's talent and ability in writing.

And finally, if any of you have ever had the wonderful opportunity to pass a kidney stone, please feel free to pass on any advice.  We'd sure love to here what worked for you.

Pain killers and water. Cranberry juice. And a lot of suffering. Fetal position on a cool tile floor, hot baths...that's all I can tell ya...they are horrible...and I thought it was worse than birth. Take in mind..I was in labor for 36 hours. Hugs.

Mrs. Fuzz, best wishes for a speedy recovery! Some other wives behind the badge and I are heading to dinner tomorrow, Whine, wine, and dine. I think it should be a monthly event!

Funny enough, my wife too is suffering from the same. She is upstairs right now with a stent and some pain pills. Just have her relax and not over do it. Best of luck to you and her brother.

I'm very sorry to hear of Mrs. illness. I've had kidney stones and they are absolute agony. I went to the ER and the idiots thought I was a drug addict... eventually I got enough happy juice into me that I was starting to hallucinate, and the pain was still agony. Think about having your teeth pulled without Novocaine.

I'd opt for the surgery. I note that cutting for stones was one of the very first surgeries, done without anesthetic - the pain was so bad you won't mind someone taking a knife to you.

Mrs. Fuzz I will be keeping you in prayer! I can only imagine what the pain must feel like. :-( Can't wait for your next few posts.
