she crazy

To everyone's relief, Calamity Jane got the axe on Monday. Unsurprisingly, it was a series of troubling events that have led up to this. I've mentioned before that she had trouble taking instruction in the academy. I think the chief in his attempt to hire more women, was hoping that her issues would get straightened out during FTO, but just like in the academy, she argued with her FTOs and exhibited other odd behaviors. For example, she said that once she was done with FTO she was going to be a detective.

There are funny things that happened, like her use of the radio. Once, she identified herself as a 10--(the code for a Driver's license here). My favorite CJ story, and the most recent, which I'm guessing led to her demise, would be the response to a rowdy and raucous college party. CJ and her FTO roll up, and being the pretty girl that she is, caught the attention of quite a few guys, even though she was wearing the party pooper police uniform. She loved the attention. Guys were pointing out that she was a how hot she was. Then some of them had the bright idea of asking her to dance with them. They probably thought it would be funny to get their groove on with a hottie in uniform. So get this. CJ says, "Oookay. Fine. I'll dance with you. I just have ONE rule. You can't touch my gun. You can touch me, but you can't touch my gun." She then danced with these guys until her FTO put an end to it. I'm guessing she looked more like the entertainment than the authority. This, my friends, is the straw that broke the camel's back. I know, crazy!

Of course, everything the lieutenant told her when firing her is being spread from officer to officer and I am drinking it up, just like a gossipy old lady obsessed with the tabloids. Honestly, when I met CJ, I quite liked her and wished the best for her. Then I felt bad that I had a blog full of CJ stories. But this job was NOT a good match for her. And finally, to everyone's relief, she agreed, and is now moving on to the next chapter of her life. She had everyone on edge. I'm surprised she lasted this long. She did some crazy stuff. Poor, poor Calamity Jane.

Unfortunately, this did nothing for the common stereotypes of women in the police force. However, they did hire another woman that HF attended the academy with and she is awesome. Meant to be an officer just like HF. Her husband is a Marine that was just deployed. And they're newlyweds. It was nice they gave her 2-3 weeks off to spend with him before he had to go.

Oh jeez louise. Thank goodness that chapter has ended (entertaining though it was).

I have so many potential comments I can't seem to narrow it down.

I'm relieved she is gone. She was, like you said, given good women cops a bad name. I'm frustrated at those that hired her/let her graduate the academy. This was inevitable. Why let it go on?

Even though this has been entertaining from the start, it's mostly been shocking and confusing. Why? is what I always wondered in confusion. Is it her looks that got her this far? Trying to fill a quota and there wasn't that many women that applied? I too, don't see how she even made it through the academy. It would've been such a danger and liability to the officers and the department. It was even a liability during the short amount of time she was in FTO.

I bet it is very difficult for everyone in HF's class to not shout "I told you so." The agency is very fortunate that she only embarrassed them this way--one that will be quickly forgotten unless it is posted on YouTube next week.

We had a guy like that would just could not get fired no matter what dumb things he did. A new officer officer rotates through three training officers before allowed to go solo. The dangerous guy's second FTO recommended immediate termination in a volume-like report sent up through the chain. Admin decided against it an sentenced the guy to another 4 months of training. He lasted 3 years--the last 2 hidden on an overnight desk job before he did something that the agency could not overlook.

The best thing for me was being the rookie assigned to FTO #2 following dangerous guy--needless to say I walked on water and could do nothing wrong in comparion.

Is this story real or is this a Hollywood script? Really? Wow! You know, that it seems that women in the PD are either VERY dykey, cute little ding dongs, OR mean and angry and mad, mad, mad. I think that there are possibly some normal ones out there but I have yet to see them. One of the best female PO's at hubby's PD is kind of gym teacherish. She also slept with one or two of the officers. Yep, that is their best females. I just cannot believe that she actually danced with the guys at the party!!!!! That is just so pathetic. Wonder what she'll wind up doing in her life? Stripper?

MV-she's married with 3 kids. She claims to have wanted the job because

1. "my husband is an unsuccessful entrepreneur and refuses to do anything else so I'm the one that has to get a job"
2. She wanted the benefits. (which she could get at other jobs as well. wasn't exclusive to being an officer at this particular agency)

Good to know that HF and his brothers are now safe from the crazy woman! gosh, I would have been on edge if she was on shift with my husband, and was his backup! Yikes.

This "happy ending" gives me hope that the crappiness in our PD will be over soon. I'm just worried that good officers are getting caught in the cross-fire and will have lasting consequences. All because an incompetant officer can't admit that the job's not for her and needs to move on.

Whew! Well, that's a load off of my mind! :D

However, apparently she *does* have talents...

I will have to go back and read some of your other CJ stories but it seems to me like she is being stereotyped here... Not all women on police forces are like that. My son's gf is a cop and a good one too. Top in her class and well respected. But then I am a nurse and we have done this to male nurses for years. Maybe it was a self-fulfilling prophecy.

My jaw was on the floor well into paragraph 3. I was so excited to see CJ that I nearly spilled my HM beverage of choice.

Alas, sometimes a quota is just a number. Luckily it sounds as though a better person will take her place.

"Just don't touch my gun"...If I had a nickle...

Hate to see situations like this. There are no women on my husband's department...although the Sheriff would like to hire one. We just haven't had any good applicants. Thank goodness he hasn't chosen to hire one just to fill a quota.
I'm all for women as police officers....but it has to be their passion - just like with the men. You can't do this job just because.
Glad it got cleared up before anyone got sued or hurt!

Paula: thanks for your concern on behalf of women but actually, CJ isn't being sterotyped. Many, including me, have commented that there are good women cops and she is giving women cops a bad name with her stupid behavior.

I know several women cops and none of them act like this.

I know plenty of great female officers, and I think law enforcement management should be doing a better job of recruiting quality people all-around.

That said, some people just aren't cut out for this job... strike that... a lot of people aren't cut out for this job- men and women. Heck, even the reasons you listed why she was in that uniform is scary. Glad HF's department wasn't afraid to cut her when they had the opportunity.

All I could say is "Are you KIDDING me??" :-O

oh.
my.

I agree wpoets. There are certainly both men and women that are not cut out for the job.

There are only 3 female officers in HF's department, all of which are great and good friends of HFs, and they were insulted and angry with her act. I would venture to say that HF's department is a little more old school and a bit of a good ole boys group, and CJ if anything, really perpetuated the classic tv stereotype of a woman cop in the 70s or 80s.

There's more about this later. The stories just keep trickling in about her and it brings up a lot of potentially interesting discussions on gender, stereotypes, and equality in the work place.

Paula- CJ for sure does not represent female cops as a whole as she was an FTO for just about 2 months. She made both female and male cops look bad as she had to deal with the public, but I am guessing that since there is a minority of women in the police force, any negative experience with a female officer that shouldn't be there, just like any male, is going to unfortunately fuel the stereotype.

It's sad, but there are pretty much ONLY stereotypes when dealing with cops. Unless someone knows a cop personally, or has worked with one, they will carry certain stereotypes with them based on their experience or what they've been told, or seen on tv. CJ acted alone. She was not only arrogant, but very clueless. Trying to use whatever she could to get what she wanted. It didn't fool anyone.

Like you were saying, it's been done with murse's as well. (male nurses) :) Any sound person would know that a male nurse is just as good or better than a female nurse, depends on the nurse, but we aren't used to seeing male nurses in abundance. Therefore, it gets more attention. I had one murse when I was delivering my second child, and it was a little weird for me at first, especially because it was labor and delivery, but he was awesome! And I think it has a lot to do with personality and skill just like with any profession. I was the adventurous sort with my second delivery and I said it was okay to have a team of students come in and observe and practice on me. Totally won't do it again.

I am a female cop and have never taken any comments on here about CJ personally.

I only wish the CJ in our department would move on. No one wants her here but she doesn't get it. It's not a bias thing, she just doesn't perform; or she takes credit when others perform and she had a 'bit' part in it. People would rather take a call alone than have her for backup. And everyone knows how dangerous that is.

I'm glad HF doesn't have to deal with her anymore. It can become a safety issue. JMO.

Anonymous said "People would rather take a call alone than have her for backup. And everyone knows how dangerous that is."

At DH's dept, people would rather take a call alone than with their "CJ" for backup because it is *less* dangerous without her!! :-O ...so that's saying a lot....

Oh, my........

I am glad the department is now a safer place.

One day very soon we will trade CJ stories. Then we will write a book together and be rich.
