nicknames

What is with police/military/any organization filled with men in general, and nicknames? HF has one now. "Rookie Bitch". There are variations on the nickname like, "R.B.", or "Robbie". Sometimes they just call him Rook, Slick, or Kid. I assumed kid would be a likely nickname for him because of his baby face. He's 31 but could pass for someone in their early 20s. He gets a lot of grief for this, getting warned that he'll be put to good use. I sometimes call him Bambino because of his baby face and because he's Italiano.

Today I asked him if he ever gets hit on. He said that he pulled a girl over that kept trying to make small talk with him and then finally asked him if he was married. He said she was disappointed when he said yes.

I said that that was her way of trying to get out of a ticket.

Then he told me that he's been whistled at a lot.

I said that that was just people making fun of him.

Then he said that today they had to go to a dormitory to answer a fire alarm. When they arrived a group of girls from the dorm (supposedly 30-50) swarmed them and he said they started following him around giggling and shouting out, "Hot Cop!"

I didn't have a retort for that one. I mean, I call him Hot Cop myself. I was certain it would happen.

If you don't mind sharing, what are your cop nicknames?

Funny stuff.

In the academy, I was "Running Man." No nickname stuck after graduation--I think all new officers are called pup or puppy at one time or another.

I am not sure about Josh's police nicknames. He use to have a ton of the in basketball. They all had to do with our last name. I know that some of his police buddies also have used a few of those college nicknames too.

Speaking of them getting hit on... Josh gets hit on all the time! When he was working patrol it was at least once a week he would come home with stories of drunk girls grabbing his butt, or getting asked what he was doing after work or if he was married, and one girl last summer who said "Gosh you look like you are so hot in that uniform. Why don't you take it off for me and you'll feel much better." He has also arrested prostitues who have offered him a freeby just cause he is cute. Nice!

Noah was called "Missy" by one of his trainers...as in Melissa, as in Melissa Etheridge, since Etheridge is our last name.

He's also been called Officer Hottie, and he's been hit on a number of times (including by a couple dudes!)

Nicknames not huge at Husband's department.

And while Husband is basically too old for "hot cop" (he's 44) when BabyGirl was still in high school he showed up in uniform at the school for something and all the girls kept telling BabyGirl "is that your dad? He's HOT!". She found it hilarious.

Meadowlark- i don't think there's any age limit to being called "hot cop". As long as they're hot!

Stephanie-crazy drunk girls and prostitutes!

Erin- Melissa or Missy. Ha. I was wondering how they would've come up with that. That's pretty creative. I thought it was going to be one of those Dr. Cox vs. Dorian things with all the girl names. (I guess that only makes sense if you've watched Scrubs)

Shoot. Now I wish I had a college in our jurisdiction.

My nickname with the dispatchers is SAM7. The M in the acronym is for my last name. The SA... well, they won't tell me, but I have an idea.

Careful about his stories about "fire alarms." I have yet to respond to an alarm where the PD also responded. We get sent to burglar alarms all the time, but I've never seen a uniform at a fire alarm.
They were trolling campus. I'd bet my helmet on it. No the crappy one, not my leather.
:P

My husband's agency doesn't really do nicknames....they just call each other by their last names.

I know that he's been hit on, but of course he won't tell me about it. But judging from the stories the other guys tell...I know it happens.

I had my first run-in with a uniform-bunny the other day. I was manning the ambulance at a local festival w/ a guy. This woman hung around for 4 hours basically throwing herself at him...it was a little crazy! All I could do not to laugh most of the time!

My hubby's nickname is Fauxhawk (FH) because of his hairstyle, but it's mostly used in the blogging world.

When asked which hubby is mine, they say, "Oh, he's the tall, hot cop with the faux!" by outsiders, and has been told by men and women that he looks hot with that hairstyle (for our small town, that's pretty significant!).

I'm sure that he has other names, but I don't think I'd want to share them...I don't want to know the origins!

Um. Happy medic. My husband goes to fire alarms all the time. It depends on the agency.

Yeah Happy Medic. Depends on the agency I guess. The police show up for everything here. EVERYTHING. But thanks for the healthy dose paranoia thinking about HF trolling for freshmen girls. Thanks. :)

So I have no nick name stuff to share, but reading about the "hitting on" episodes reminded me of what I read in "I Love A Cop" regarding LEOs and infidelity...that with the job they're always meeting women. When I read that I turned to Sean and grilled him about all these "women" he's supposedly meeting. "Women?! Yeah, crack whore women. You're way hotter than any of them!" Gosh, that made me feel so much better.

That's my Dori... hotter than a crack whore.

teeee heeee heeee... I SOOOOOO am going to remember that one!

Why is PD going to fire alarms? Or is it just fire alarms at female dorms?
