cleaning guns and watching the princess diaries is pretty manly. Right?

One night HF sat down by me to clean his guns while I watched a movie. A preview came on for The Princess Diaries 2, and he stopped what he was doing, looked up, and said, "Princess Diaries 2? Oh, I want to see that. I really liked the first one." I looked over at him suspiciously. Then I remembered that he once stayed up all through the night to finish the 6 hour BBC version of Pride and Prejudice while I on the otherhand had passed out sometime during the first hour. He seemed so groggy the next morning and I asked him if he had slept well. He seemed a little embarrassed when admitting he had actually stayed up to finish the whole set. "I had to finish it!"

Don't worry, we still watch Steven Segal, Chuck Norris, Red Dawn, and anything else that has explosions, fighting, etc. And it's just as fulfilling. What can I say? He's a well-rounded guy. I roll my eyes at the Steven Segal type movies, but I do enjoy the cheesy one-liners. So I keep my ears open for that. His latest obsession is documentaries. About anything and everything. I enjoy that immensely as well, but sometimes I am just really not in the mood for the life and times of Benjamin Franklin. Sometimes he uses documentaries as a discipline technique for the children:
HF: If you don't stop screaming, I will sit you down in front of the tv and make you learn! I will make you watch Rick Steves Best of Europe.

Daisy: Noooo!!! I don't want to learn!!! I promise I won't scream anymore!

That's funny. Hubs refuses to watch anything like princess diaries or even dirty dancing (!)but I see nothing wrong with having diverse tastes. I had to drag him to secondhand lions and he ended up loving that!

Too funny. They act so manly, but we all know it's a cover up right? Just ask my husband....who watches Dancing With the Stars with me every week! He can tell you all the professional dancer's names and who got kicked off last week. Oh, and he's taking me to see New Moon next weekend....haha!!

You got him to watch Jane Austen with you?!

I'm not surprised he finished it, it's always the initial, "Will you PLEASE watch this with me?" that took the longest time, and then he would become engrossed.

Your man's just comfortable enough with his masculinity to be well-rounded in the movie genres.
